** COVID NOTICE **
In accordance with CDC Guidelines:
A Face Covering is recommended for those who are at high-risk for severe illness. Persons may choose to wear a Face Covering at any time. Persons with symptoms, a positive COVID test or exposure to someone with COVID should wear a Face Covering.
The safety of all court participants and staff remains a top priority. Patrons at municipal facilities are recommended to properly wear a face covering over the nose and mouth wherever it is not feasible to maintain six feet of social distancing from another person not from the same household.
Per Texas Judiciary guidelines, Courts may take any reasonable action to avoid exposing court proceedings to the threat of COVID-19. We strive to safely conduct business without bias or prejudice to all court participants.
The Mission of the Village of Surfside Beach Municipal Court is to provide an accessible legal forum for individuals to have their court matters heard in a fair and efficient manner, while providing a high level of integrity, professionalism and customer service.

All Court business can be conducted through any of the following methods:

VIRTUAL COURT HEARINGS
Most Dockets and Hearings will be conducted remotely via eDocket videoconference whenever possible. However, Trials will require a personal appearance. Please contact the court for more information or to request your virtual court hearing date.
Payments are accepted by phone, online and mail.

REMINDER - Court Ordered Classes/Courses/Counseling Resources:
Many organizations are adapting to the changes caused by the pandemic and in-person class/course options may currently be on hold; however, there are many online class/course options available to help you complete most court ordered required classes and/or courses on time.
Many organizations websites provide information about courses that are available and provide certificates of completion to meet your court ordered requirement(s) and deadline(s).
YOU RECIEVED A CITATION/TICKET. WHAT CAN YOU DO?
The Municipal Court has jurisdiction over Class C Misdemeanors and City Ordinance violations which occur within the corporate city limits and are punishable by fine only.
FAILURE TO MAINTAIN FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (NO INSURANCE)
A second or subsequent conviction of an offense under the Texas motor vehicle safety responsibility act will result in the suspension of your driver's license and motor vehicle registration unless you file and maintain proof of financial responsibility with the department of public safety for two years from the date of conviction. The department may waive the requirement to file proof of financial responsibility if you file satisfactory evidence with the department showing that at the time this citation was issued, the vehicle was covered by a liability insurance policy or that you were otherwise exempt from the requirements to provide evidence of financial responsibility.
YOU MUST WAIT 2 WORKING DAYS FROM THE DAY YOU RECIEVE YOUR CITATION BEFORE THE MUNICIPAL COURT IS ABLE TO PROCESS ANY TRANSACTIONS. THE MUNICIPAL COURT WILL NOT HAVE YOUR CITATION, AND IS UNABLE TO PROCESS ANY TRANSACTION UNTIL THE ORIGINAL CITATION IS RECIEVED IN THE COURT.
