Our St. Patrick's Day parade is one of the longest lasting and most fun traditions at Surfside Beach. We hold this annual event on the weekend before or on St. Patrick’s Day. Festivities include a parade starting at City Hall, turning east on Seashell, and then turning onto Surf and then to Highway 332.  The parade then makes its way east to Francis Cove past Red Snapper Inn and through Pirates Alley, exiting by Kitty’s Purple Cow, then turning west to Fort Velasco Boulevard and back to City Hall. Revelers throw plenty of free beads and candy from the floats. In addition to the parade, celebration sponsors sell turkey legs and sausages and supply free beer and Jell-O shots. There is also a social, fundraisers, and a reenactment of the Battle of Fort Velasco. Typically held during Spring Break, this is a great season starter where everyone dresses in spring green and enjoys the parade. A portion of the proceeds of this event go to the Surfside Police, EMS, and Volunteer Fire Departments.
