Waste Connections provides curbside pickup of residential cans TWICE weekly on Mondays and Thursdays March 1 thru September 30 and ONCE weekly on Mondays October 1 thru February 28. Curbside heavy trash pickup is every other Tuesday. Curbside garbage service is mandatory for all residents. Garbage service requests can be emailed to utilities@surfsidetx.org. To ensure quality garbage service, please adhere to the following sanitation rules:

CURBSIDE RESIDENTIAL CART PICKUP RULES: 

  • Only use Waste Connections garbage carts.
  •  Do not dispose of household hazardous materials, i.e. paint, pesticides, antifreeze, or toxic cleaners in the garbage carts.
  • Garbage carts must be placed on the curb by 6:00am. Do not place carts close together, as the service is automated.
  • Remove carts from the side of the road as soon as possible after pickup has occurred. 
  • No construction/remodeling material, such as lumber, plywood, drywall, carpeting and other flooring material, tile & roofing material.
  • No concrete, dirt/mulch, bricks, batteries, cross ties, rocks
  • No auto parts or tires
  • No paint or liquid of any kind
  • No hazardous waste, such as chemicals, fertilizer, pesticides, oil or other petroleum products, medical waste any kind or sharps
  • No logs more than 18" in diameter or over 50 pounds
  • No items that contain Freon
  • No flammable items of any kind
  • No closed containers/tanks of any kind
  • No animal carcasses
  • No items over 50 pounds in weight
  • No item more than 5 feet in length
  • All acceptable items must be placed no more than 5 feet from the roadway for service on or before 6:00am on service day. No more than the 2 yard limit will be serviced on heavy trash service day.

The Village of Surfside does not currently offer recycling at this time. Residents can visit the Waste Connections website for more recycling options.
