From the Mayor’s Desk
In my first letter as Mayor, I used the phrase “building a better Surfside.” I was both surprised and flattered when Brad Stafford from Clear Career Professionals referred to it in one of his recent presentations. This is a simple and meaningful goal. It is planning for our future, while also addressing our current needs. Brad used it in the context of employees working together to achieve their goals. But it is also meaningful in the context of our Budget Workshops. I encourage you to attend, voice your opinions, state your priorities and your hopes for a better Surfside. This is where we begin.
I received great news yesterday. Both EMS trucks passed state inspection. Additionally, the EMS building and personnel passed state inspection. This was the result of many hours of intense work by our Interim EMS Director, Chief Phillip Hester and his assistant, Sgt. Robert King. Thank you both.
Be sure to make plans to come to Surfside Sunset and Sound Market & Music Festival on September 19th and 20th. I just received the official schedule from David Calhoun, our tourism director, and it’s sure to be a fun event. Music will be provided by James Harvey and Friends, Snake Oil Salesmen, Quenton Rush, Seth Candan and Dawson Deboard. There will be food trucks and vendors and even a bouncy house. Eat, dance, listen to music and watch the sunset.
Summer is almost over. See you on the beach.
“Though she be but little, she is fierce!”
